The Vels were a new wave/synthpop band comprised of Alice DeSoto, Charles Hanson, and Chris Larkin from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were a prominent fixture on the Philadelphia music scene in the early 1980s. They were signed by Mercury Records. The single, "Look My Way", peaked at No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in 1985. While "Hieroglyphics" reached No. 30 and "Look My Way" peaked at No. 39 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs. In 1985 and 1986, The Vels toured the world as the opening act for The Psychedelic Furs. They released two albums under the Mercury label, Velocity (1984) & House of Miracles (1986) but disbanded in 1987. Chris Larkin died from complications due to pneumonia on November 21, 2007.
