The Valuables are a seven piece hard-hitting soulful reggae act. Reigning from Vancouver BC, they gather influences from the roots music of Jamaica and late sixties soul of the United States. Band founders, vocalist and guitar player Corey Poluk and baritone sax player Haig Morrison first got together in early 2009 and started to work out ideas, quickly adding long time friend Michelle DuGuay on vocals and alto saxophone. Joining them on the backline is Eric Rasmusson on drums, an experienced rockabilly and punk player, and inspired Maximilian Lazarus on bass. The horn section is rounded out by Arizona native and long time ska trombone player Brian Weingartner; and finally completing the lineup is the talented Janna Gabrek, who rounds out the rhythm, and puts that cool sound of the organ behind them. With their retro sound, the Valuables can turn any venue into a 60’s dancehall. Inspired by such artists such as the Temptations, Prince Buster, the Four Tops, Edwin Starr and Desmond Dekker, the Valuables make a classic sound all their own with their memorable and nostalgic live show.
