The Uptown Felaz (TUF) is a Budapest-based crew and is a joint-project of several people who have known each other for a long time. Their first big nick was in 2002 when they wrote the soundtrack for the Hungarian movie "Tesó" ("Bro'", Best Script @ Hungarian Film Week). The success of the motion picture gave a boost for the team, and they started to show and give out their own tracks to friends and foreign djs, hence their music started to spread. One of their first tunes "Brainstorm" landed at Dom Servini, by the help of Robin of Dublex Inc. who by the way is a regular guest in Hungary along with his fellows. This was later released on a 7" b/w Capstone "I don't Know" on WahWah 45's and also got the remix treatment from Ninja Tune's Hint - this was released on Wah Wah as well in 12 inch format. There was no rest under the trees, TUF was soon given a request to produce the music material for the second movie by the same director (Zsombor Dyga). The crime-comedy "Kész Cirkusz" debuted at the 2005 Hungarian Film Week, and the music got the award for the "Best Original Soundtrack". There are some other releases out now by them: they appeared on the compilation of a local label, Mama Records and the hardcore percussion bomb "Coconut" was released on the long-time German friends Pulver Records.
