The Twisted Harbor Town was a metalcore band originating from Tokyo, Japan. Formed in July 2009, the band consisted of vocalist SHO, guitarist and programmer HAN, guitarist TAKEMITZ (formerly played by K), bassist YU-TA (formerly played by HIDE), and drummer Tomo. In March 2010, the band released their first demo, selling over 1,000 copies. In May 2011, they contributed to a charity benefit compilation CD for the Tohoku earthquake. Expanding their presence nationwide, the band released their first single, "This Story is Not About the Others," in October 2011. By incorporating piano, strings, flute, and gloken into their inherently intense and aggressive sound, they established a distinctive artistic sound. In 2012, bassist HIDE and guitarist K departed from the band. YU-TA joined as HIDE's replacement, with HIDE actively assisting in the transition and guiding YU-TA through the band's music before departing. Following the lineup changes, The Twisted Harbor Town performed alongside Underoath, participated in Unionway, collaborated with Motionless In White and Funeral For A Friend, and took part in SCREAM OUT FEST 2013. During this time, Austin from Of Mice & Men witnessed their rehearsals and live performances, offering high praise. His enthusiastic participation on stage, joining in shouts, was an acknowledgment and recognition of the band. The collaboration with other artists further bolstered their confidence and reputation. The band drew attention from Defröck Records,
