There are at least two different bands called The Transatlantics. 1. Based in Adelaide, South Australia, The Transatlantics are an eight-piece deep funk and soul outfit inspired by the great soul performers of the late 60's and early 70's. They came together in 2007 born of a shared love for gritty old vinyl, cheap guitars and quality barbequed meats. Described by NME as "a young, white Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings," The Transatlantic's sound invokes the grainy warmth of Southern American Soul and the rhythmic grunt of classic James Brown-era funk. Led by Tara Lynch (vocals) and comprising three horns, two guitars, bass and drums, this eight-piece band has gained a reputation for delivering a high-energy live show. 2010 saw the release of The Transatlantic's self-titled debut album on UK-based Freestyle Records. The Transatlantics are: Randall "Country" Ridge Jr. (guitar), Kyra Schwarz (trombone), Kevin van der Zwaag (drums & good vibes), Chris Weber (trumpet), Tara Lynch (vocals), Jon "Sugarcane" Hunt (baritone saxophone), Ross McHenry (bass), Kahil Nayton (guitar). 2. The Transatlantics were a British rock band of the 1960s from Grays, Essex, United Kingdom. They released a string of singles in 1965 and 1966 on labels such as Fontana and Merury. Personnel: Peter Wright (vocals), John Edmonds (lead guitar), Ian Scott (rhythm guitar), Tony Clout (bass) and Peter Brewer (drums).
