The Thick Thieves was originally a two-piece acoustic act with its founders Jacob Friedman and Victor Chiburis (who had worked together in another short lived band not too long beforehand). After the failure of their previous project they decided to rename themselves and start-a-new as The Thick Thieves. For the next year they played coffee houses, parties, and art galleries covering folk songs and playing a few originals of their own. In the summer of 06β they decided that in order to rid themselves of the limitations of being an acoustic act, they would have to branch out and add on to the lineup. They soon teamed up with their good friends Jamie Burke and Luke Hunter of the Mystic based new wave trio, Incessant Pop Group. For roughly four years they played with a constantly louder sound and gained a decent following in the Thames Valley. In 2009 they officially broke-up and went their separate ways.
