Q. What do cinematic soundscapes, dueling solos, abstract poetic narratives, Middle Eastern techno beats over African drums, and dynamic progressive rock riffs have in common? A. All are fair game for the world’s most interesting up and coming group of musicians. They call themselves the Tempest Armada. In a society intent on packaging away lifestyles in the confines of boxes, The Tempest Armada seem like a sigh of relief to the many that don’t want to fit. Throughout the last few months, the group has been hard at work taking chances few would consider. Now, these six artists from the San Fernando Valley are the owners of an established record label and a studio to die for, not to mention graphic design and promotion companies as well as a solid foothold in the industry. In the first half of June, the international community will get their first taste of The Tempest Armada through their debut release “Echoes of the Last Bell,” as well as a glimpse into their unorthodox personalities and promotion tactics in these months prior. Spanning the length of fifty five minutes, the seven album tracks are a collection of sounds and words that traverse through all cultures and styles in impressive and elegant intricacy. The totality of the album becomes a journey of transcendence and descent, one of duality, of the apocalypse, of psychological disorders, religion, death, and love.
