There appear to be several bands called The Summits 1) In 1963, "The Summits" released "He's an Angel/Hanky Panky" (Harmon 10117, which was a Bright Tunes production). The B-side was the well-known Ellie Greenwich/Jeff Barry song that was a hit for The Raindrops and Tommy James & The Shondells (it was possibly the first recording of the song to be released). The A-side was written by Jeff Barry and Artie Resnick and is a little-heralded but top division example of the Girl Group sound, which has a lead vocal quite reminiscent of the vocal styling that Carla Thomas brought to Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes) in 1961 -- but, sadly, no biographical details of The Summits appear to exist. 2) A four piece covers band from Oldbury, West Midlands. Formed By Long Time Friends Jack Cartwright On Guitar, James Hewitt on Bass, Chris Ward on Guitar And Alex Elseworth On Drums in 2003. The band recorded the Chris' Song single in 2005 before breaking up in December 2006. Known for shambolic covers of punk-pop and classic rock hits, and the lack of a permanent lead vocalist.
