The Strife Addicts, Formed in 1996, after the break up of The Crazy Lace (John Garrido on guitar and Vocals. Brian Garrido on drums. And Roberto Varela on bass, and drums), a short lived jam, that recorded a few in home recordings. Brian Garrido not having much time and left the band. Which left members John Garrido guitar on vocals, bass, and some drum arrangements. And Roberto Varela on drums, vocals, to form The Strife Addicts (Stryfe Addicts, Stryfe Adiks). Although the spelling has changed several times. The core band has remained the same with the addition of Titus Eastman, and short lived Adam Rever. With Little equipment and limited recording experience John Garrido and Roberto Varela. Went into an old horse stable converted into a studio and began to write and record the album New Born. Recorded in the summer of 1997 in a two week session, with Brian Garrido sitting in on drums on the track Marmaduke. The New Born was a power house of diversity. Filled with ambient guitars, punk rock feel, hypnotic drums, innocent vocals, and no regard for the neighbors. With no funds to distribute the album it didn't even get the chance to see the light of day, however New Born was a massive success with the locals who were ripping and passing it from person to person. Getting them a show on the Miramar Navel Base in San Diego, CA that was sold out to an officers club.
