The Spider Bytes is the studio project of John Hondroulis. Hailing originally from New Orleans, he was deeply influenced by the juggernaut of beats echoing from the city's underground new wave club scene of the 80's. One of John's first gigs was with Harry Connick, Jr. where the then unknown Harry was hired to play the private party hosted by John's bandmate's parents. When it was time to form a new band, he enlisted Phil Anselmo of Pantera. He lasted 2 weeks before he quit because he didn't want to play "this pussy Adam and the Ants shit!". In spite of this heavy metal set-back, the 16-year-old's band went on to form as The Socials that had a cult following among Catholic school girls and even earned a mention in Tiger Beat magazine. They went on to release a single that was produced by Vance Degeneres (Ellen's brother and Comedy Central fame). The Columbus, Ohio based project is called the The Spider Bytes because there's feeling of lucid excitement about the music as if being bitten by a bug that has empowered the effort.
