There are at least three bands called The Spartans. 1. The Spartans were a short-lived R&B / beat band from Exeter in Devon, United Kingdom. Heavily indebted to The Who, their best known recording is a cover version of said band's 'La-La-La-Lies', its title abbreviated to 'Lies'. The band recorded some more tracks for the Oak label in 1966, but none of them were actually released on 45. The band then dissolved and became The Clockwork Orange. 2. The Spartans are a four-piece band from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in the United Kingdom. They have been around since 2008 playing local gigs and the current lineup has been playing together since 2009. They play Dirty/Indie/Rock. 3. The Spartans were an obscure 60s jazz/rock/blues group best known for their 1962 novelty-ish single "Can You Waddle?"
