Artist
From Ancaster, Ontario The Social Workers current line up was fully formed in February, 2010. Their music is rock with the occasional piano, synth, or shaker thrown in for good measure. The Casbah could be considered their origin as it is there that they first started playing shows. They have played with the likes of Mother Mother, Japandroids, Said The Whale, Magneta Lane, Young Rival, Yukon Blonde and The Besnard Lakes among others. Although influences of The Strokes, Radiohead, and Joy Division can be heard, The Social Workers' sound is its own, changing up the regular rock sound with classical overtones and a lot of personality. Their aim is to play entertaining shows and to get their music out to as many people as possible. The Social Workers consists of Gordy Bond on drums, Patrick O'Brien on rhythm guitar, Ben Munoz on lead guitar and keys, Spence Newell as vocals, and Evan Bond on bass. They practice out of an unfinished basement in Ancaster while living in Hamilton and attending McMaster University. Currently, they are writing new material and improving upon their live shows.
