The Smokestacks were formed in late 2003 when two Lancashire boys met two Welshmen and a Yorkie. Over the years their music has developed from the fast pop of the early days to a more considered sound akin to a cross between Elbow and The Flaming Lips. They've recently been receiving much attention, after selling out their debut single during a nationwide tour and playing alongside acts such as The Paddingtons, The Lodger, Sunshine Underground, iForward Russia! and Alabama 3. The Smokestacks are Joel Gellard (Guitar, Vox), Will Gray (Guitar, Vox), The Scene (Keyboards, Sounds), Owen Spence (Bass), Tommy Drums (Drums).
