The Sins of Thy Beloved was a death-doom and gothic metal band from Bryne, Norway, active primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band was formed in November 1996 by Glenn Morten Nordbø, Arild Christensen, and Stig Johansen. Originally called Purgatory, they changed their name shortly after formation. Although there were unconfirmed rumors in 2007 of a potential return by Auglend, it was later clarified in an interview with Pete Johansen that the band had officially disbanded in 2002. Johansen continued his musical career with contributions to other bands, including Tristania and Sirenia. In 2013, Anders Thue
