The Secret Whistle is a duo featuring Dan Freidman and Forest Gallien, which formed around late 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. Their sound consists of live bass lines over MPC produced beats. All the samples are taken from vinyl and all the bass lines are recorded live, often with multiple bass lines over each other per song. Their sound has been likened to RJD2 and even DJ Shadow, and combine elements of hip-hop, dub, ambient, and electronica.
