The Salad Maker is a four piece guitar band from Sao Paulo. They sing in English and are based in London, a city they believe produces the world's finest rock n roll. Their contempory, indie sound draws on many influences from Rancid to Buddy Holly and has been molded throughout a decade of songwriters Amauri (bass and backing vox) and Renato (guitar and vox) writing together, through jamming as teenage neighbours and holding practices across different continents. They played in ska band Follow the Egg for nearly 7 years, playing major venues and festivals such as Hangar 110, the Morrison Rock Bar, Tribe House and the Bandstock Festival, all the while making a well known name for themselves on the underground ska scene in Sao Paulo. It was playing together in this band after being neighbours and buddies since the age of 15 that solidified the duo's tight relationship. Realising that their home suburb in Sao Paulo, Sao Bernando de Campo, was hugely under represented for shops selling rock 'n' roll clothing, they opened The Egg Shop togther. The project lasted until the pair, feeling limited by the Brazilain music scene, decided to pack in the shop and bring a band to London. It took a year to stabilise in a new city, continent and hemisphere. They started with no instruments and saved money to buy some by packing salads in an eastend factory, an experience they describe as "a gainful pain!"
