The Rumbones were an early (and extremely short-lived) reggae formation from the southern Netherlands. They were active from 13 October 'til 12 November, 1977. Precisely one month. No single or LP was released at the time. The reason why The Rumbones were not forgotten is the fact that the band was a predecessor of Doe Maar, the Dutch-language ska/reggae group that, in the early 1980s, would become one of the most popular bands of all-time in The Netherlands. The Rumbones' roster included future Doe Maar members Henny Vrienten, Ernst Jansz, Joost Belinfante and Piet Dekker (the latter was to leave Doe Maar before their big-break). The line-up was completed by John Lodewijks, Christian Carron and Patty Gomes. A CD of The Rumbones live recordings was included in 'De Doos van Doe Maar', the band's complete works, released 2012.
