The Rowdies were a short-lived punk band from Evesham, Worcestershire, United Kingdom, active in 1977 and 1978. Brothers Alan and Rob Emms, lead vocals and guitar respectively, had formed hard rock band Press Gang in 1975, but punk's emergence saw them rechristened Rob Riot & The Rowdies. By the time of their July 1978 début single they had shortened that to The Rowdies. All three tracks on the 7-inch were penned by Rob, including the title track 'A.C.A.B.' - a known acronym for "all coppers are bastards". It was to be the band's only release. Despite what's been claimed elsewhere, a 1979 single credited to The Rowdies was actually the work of a different, studio-only outfit that included members of The Boys.
