There are at least two groups named The Rising Sons. 1) An American band, formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964. The original lineup was Ry Cooder (vocals, six- and 12-string guitar, mandolin, slide and bottleneck guitar, dobro), Taj Mahal (vocals, harmonica, guitar, piano), Gary Marker (bass), Jesse Lee Kincaid (vocals and guitar) and Ed Cassidy (drums). 2) A South African band, formed in Pietermaritzburg, Natal, in 1966. The original lineup was Rod Keilly (lead vocals), Andy White (bass), Gerard Hawes (keyboards, harmonica, guitar), Malcolm Watson (lead guitar), Dave Campbell (drums).
