The RipOffs are a Glasgow-based band formed by high-school friends in 2001. By 2004 the band had changed drummers and was beginning to take their music a little more seriously, moving on from their influences (Biffy Clyro, Smashing Pumpkins, Aereogramme, Green Day) to find their own voice. A rough demo which barely reflected the raw energy of their live performance, followed by a self-produced EP, caught the interest of both BBC Radio (the station's Niall-Iain showcased the band on his show) and XFM Scotland, with Jim Gellatly picking the band as his "Beatbreakers". Radio play led to gigs in some of Scotland's best-loved venues such as The 13th Note, Barfly, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and even the arena-sized SECC.
