Formed by bassist Dan Jordan in 2005 as a response to Columbia High School's Jamnesty 2005 show, the Prostitutes in Suits quickly became a musical force to be reckoned with on the Albany music scene. Along with Peter Mueller, an acquaintance met at a number of local ska shows and tenor sax player attending RPI at the time, John "Minkus" Curtin and Peter Casellini, a bari sax player and drummer (respectively) from Columbia, as well as Mueller's housemate Trevor Gray occasionally joining in on percussion, the PIS came charging out of the gate with a very unique sound, with a fusion of ska, funk, rock, and jazz all finding their way into the quartet's (and occasionally quintet's) sound. After another school talent show, the band picked up three additional members from Columbia's musical ranks, namely Nick Manzella on alto sax, Matt Fabozzi on guitar, and graduate Andrew Spink on keyboard. The band quicky got to writing new material, fed by a diet of diverse musical tastes, rigorous practice schedules, and I Love New York pizza. (The one on Fourth Street, not the crappy Hoosick Street one, and definitely not the Delmar one... Yeesh) After a series of illegal rooftop performances on the RPI campus, the band went into the studio in mid-July to record their debut album, tentatively titled Self-Titled Album.
