The Pow are an indie/punk band from Maidstone in Kent. Formed after David & Ian had been playing in a band playing covers of the likes of Idlewild and Snow Patrol; David decided that he wanted to play in a punk band starting with covers of the likes of The Ramones and The Clash, he recruited fellow punk fan and good friend Karl as bassist. They decided they needed a drummer if this whole band business was going to work and for some odd reason landed (metaphorically) upon ace-guitarist Ian who may or may not have shown an interest in percussion but who proved his worth on the kit as fast as lightning. This left the trio practicing together regularly with no vocals and a string of unsuccesful or unreliable people attempting to fill the void. Eventually they asked new friend Katy if she wanted to sing and immediately the band came together; finding their sound as a modern punkish-grungey-indie band. Unfortunately this was only in Summer 2006 so the band didn't have long to go before university began. The Pow have proved popular with all listeners and as a fun lively live act sure to get the crowd going. They have been likened by some to an early 'be your own Pet' and are continuing to play together despite their distance from each other.
