THE PLOCTONES were founded in 2001 by Dutch guitarist Anton Goudsmit under the name "GOUDSMIT, TRUJILLO, VIERDAG & VINK" to perform a series of his compositions commissioned by Dutch NPS Radio. In 2004 former VPRO radio producer Rene de Rooij organised a live cd recording at the Jazz op het Dak festival, an event directed by De Rooij and featured on VPRO radio and television. GOUDSMIT, TRUJILLO, VIERDAG & VINK have emerged as a highly creative, innovative group combining grooves and improvisation. The band’s unique sound owes as much to Efraim Trujillo's sax, Jeroen Vierdag's bass and Martijn Vink's drums, as to Goudsmit's guitar.
