Born from the thoughts, hopes and passions of a few young men, The Pledge came to life just before the year of 2005 in the Midwestern crossroad town of Dayton, Ohio. Facing discontent with the lack of original and progressive ideals and philosophical stagnation that once where a forefront of punk and hardcore beliefs, The Pledge wants something more to offer: to ignite the torch of an active movement as their forbearers once did. Finding inspiration through the ideas of individual liberty, intellectual enrichment, political freedom, social awareness, and spiritual enlightenment, members of The Pledge strive to create original and timeless punk influenced hardcore, infused with emotion and carrying a message. Using these five aspects as a muse, The Pledge hopes to alter the status quo of their movement; combating senseless violence, challenging dispassionate legions to think for themselves, resurrecting the spiritual aspect which seems to have been lost in recent times, and most importantly, craft songs to which anyone can relate, understand and enjoy. Though many members have come and gone, the focus remains and the Pledge is more powerful today than before. In just two short years and countless shows under their belt, with emotionally charged and even fun-fused live shows, The Pledge has shared the stage with many cherished and established acts in the punk/hardcore realm.
