The Painted Shuts was a transatlantic collaboration project between Paul Burnout of The Real Burnouts, and Smally of The Wheelies, two bands featured on Utica's experimental-psych label Cozy Home Records. The first Painted Shuts songs were incorporated into a record called "The Utica Flower Company" along with two other collaboration projects between Smally and fellow Burnouts Bobby Rogan (Fig Mints of Your Imagination) and Luke Humann (Arthur Rules), and the record was released through Cozy Home in early 2008 - http://www.cozyhomerecords.com In the summer of 2009, The Painted Shuts wrote and recorded a full-length record called "My Own Personal Summer of Love" as well as a promo EP called "Bus Stop".
