The Ossians were a four-piece indie band from Edinburgh in Scotland. Their members spiralled around their lead vocalist and guitarist, the irrepressible troubled genius Connor Alexander. He counted his bandmates as sister, Kate Alexander, on bass guitar and backing vocals, his girlfriend, Hannah Reid on guitar and best friend, Danny McIntyre, on drums. Three well-recieved EPs led to the band being chased by major labels. Instead, one infamous night at the King Tut's venue in Glasgow has gone down in Scottish indie legend. The result of these incidents was the end of the band in December. Their posthumous mini-album 'The Macpherson Tapes' was released in March 2008. In connection with this release, The Ossians official biographer, Doug Johnstone, has released a book about the band, published through Viking Press, an imprint of Penguin. He is also apparently touring, playing cover versions of The Ossians' back catalogue, which are equivalent to the sub-standard cover versions you used to get on the old Top Of The Pops collections.
