The original Buzzards in the Original Buzzard Band have patched up their differences and are reheating their special brew of boogie. “We just needed a little time away from each other,” said 56year-old Jim McInnis about a hiatus that stretched into a marathon of close to 20 years. The Original Buzzard Band hosts and headlines this Saturday’s Boogie-Woogie Down South Jukin’ Fun in the Sun Festival at the Moose Lodge. It’s a celebration of 25 years since McInnis teamed up with John Dominas, Ron McMinn and Mike Jokimaki to form the Buzzards. Jokimaki was replaced a few years later by Kevin Peterson. “Jimmy and I are getting along now,” said Dominas, 64, the burly drummer who has acted as the band’s driving force and spokesman from the beginning. It wasn’t so much a lingering feud, said McInnis, as a desire to have some space. “We spent a lot of time together in the early days and you tend to get on each other’s nerves.” McMinn, 53, often found himself in the middle of some heated, but usually professional, arguments. “I was sort of the interpreter between the old-school Polack, John, and the old-school Scotsman, Jim,” said McMinn. “Sometimes they’d be arguing basically the same thing and neither would know what the other was saying.
