Amidst the agonizing grooves, labyrinthine time signatures, dazzling fretwork and ruthless vocals, this five piece symbolizes a new dimension of modern metal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #2 The Northern is a rock band from New York City and is composed of brothers David Chalk and Jimmy Chalk, Jonathan Seale, and Jason Burger. The Northern was founded in 2007 and released their first record If I Could Meet the Architect on April 22, 2008. Tastefully blending Chris Thile's lyrical sincerity, Ryan Adam's introspective wordplay, and Coldplay's unabashedly hopeful anthems, The Northern was formed in the woods of Garden Ridge, Texas as brothers Jimmy and David Chalk began recording their debut release "If I Could Meet the Architect" in the summer of 2007.
