Bands with songs that hit like sledgehammers, do they still exist? Of course. On their whirling debut album The Nicholsons mix a powerful sound with smooth & exciting arrangements. There are no other Belgian bands that actually sound this British. And despite any chauvinism, that can be considered as a big compliment. The Nicholsons perfectly understood one thing: good isn’t good enough. With iron fist, producer Luuk Cox (Tim Vanhamel, Arsenal, Krakow, Roadburg) hammered 11 songs into a monster of an album. On their first record the band wonderfully succeeds in creating a relevant and unique sound. Prominent hammond, vintage synths, edgy guitars and pumping drums with Mathieu Vanherpe’s powerful voice as earcatcher. Believe it or not, never before church organs were this rock ‘n’ roll.
