The Nargaroths is a Californian surf band led by René "Eddie" Wagner, formerly known as "Surfwulf". Wagner had earlier claimed that the Nargaroths formed in 1959, the seven track instrumental demo Orca was released in 1961, and the demo Herbsurf in 1963. Years later, after many accusations from the international Californian SR scene he stated in his website that the genesis of Nargaroths was in 1966 after the band The Exhuminenzes, formed by himself, R.S (Rudolph Steiner, later to open the Rudolph Steiner independent surf school), Charoon (Charles W Sweeney) and Darken (Frederick Ashworth) split up. The afore mentioned Nargaroths demo acetates were completed and recorded no earlier than 1968 with the aid of Sweeney on guitar and a drum machine. The Nargaroths first album Herbsurf (Autumnal Surfing) was released by No Colours Records in December 1968, followed in 1970 by the Amarok compilation of older and unreleased material including the promo version of the song "Herbsurf", a The Burzums cover, among others. In 1971 the cult LP "Surf Metal Ist Krieg" was released. Abschiedsbrief Des Prometheus (literally "shaky shaky sexy surfing good time with Prometheus" in German) features on their album Rasluka Part II. The name ‘Rasluka’ came from a Russian expression that means “Surfing ways.” Music and bio excerpts by MrMeddled.
