The Mushroom River Band was a Swedish rock band active from 1996 to 2004. The band released two full-length albums and one EP, and appeared on various compilation albums. They completed two European tours in support of their studio albums, performing in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Belgium. The band was formed in 1996 by guitarist Anders Linusson, bassist Alexander "Saso" Sekulovski, and drummer Andreas Grafenauer. This initial lineup recorded a demo tape featuring Christian "Spice" Sjöstrand of Spiritual Beggars as a guest vocalist. After the release of the limited demo, the band disbanded as members pursued other directions. In 1997, Linusson and Sekulovski decided to reform the band and brought in 16-year-old Chris Rockström on drums. Spice returned, this time as a full-time member. In January 1998, the group recorded the material that would become the "Rocketcrash" EP at Soundscape Studio in Halmstad. The EP was released in 1999 on 10-inch vinyl through the band's own label, Tea Pot. Later that year, the band recorded a second demo titled "The No Quarter Recordings", which helped them secure shows outside their local scene. However, live performances were limited due to Spice's ongoing commitments with Spiritual Beggars.
