I can’t hear the direct influence, but I really like his music." --Graham Lee (The Triffids) Mess+Noise interview, Jan '09 Still a young band with an average age of just 18, The Morning Night grew up in Perth's music scene. Three of the band's members have parents who are working musicians; one of whom is Shaun Hoffmann, drummer of 80’s/90’s local indie pop band No Flowers No Wedding Dress and dad to The Morning Night's principal songwriter and band leader Adrian. Today Adrian and Shaun share their own studio, where The Morning Night recorded their 2009 EP Decide what you want and more recently the debut album produced by Ricky Maymi due for release late 2010. Before all of this recording started, Adrian's two passions of music and football went into battle. Music was victorious, fuelled by an almost obsessive interest in 80's Australian songwriters and bands, sandwiched by the UK sound of the 60's and the more contemporary indie styles from midwest USA. Coinciding with football, Adrian wrote for and played in bands from the age of 15, but the turning point came at the end of the first summer he'd finished high school - guest starring with another legend of the local indie scene, The Triffids, during their reunion gig for the Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF) in February '09.
