Their first meetings as a band took place in October 09. Their sound and compositions are a cross of garage punk and psychedelic pop, mostly influenced by the mid 60s American scene, as well as other strong sources such as Greek and French 60s pop scene and a variety of other revivals of the garage/psych sound until today. Some of The Mongrelettes members have been active in other relative projects/bands in the past and all of them have been long term lovers of garage sounds! In January 2010 they played their first gig, supporting garage/psych band The Magnificent Brotherhood(de). Since then, they have also opened for garage power-poppers The Stems(aus), the explosive Italians Movie Star Junkies, some of the best in the Norwegian scene like The Launderettes, Death By Unga Bunga, The Mobsmen, Burt Rocket Surf and Torqueflite (Garage&Surf Weekender), as well as the psychedelic experimental projects Ashtray Navigations and Earzumba and most recently the Italians Jumpin’ Quails.
