about

Molecules - The Molecules where formed in Oakland, Ca in 1990. The Molecules have toured many times in North America, Europe and Asia. We have released 6 CDs the newest one Called Friends, which is a CD of new music and a DVD of past performances. The memebers are Ron Anderson - guitar, voice, trumpet, Keys Thomas Scandura - drums John Shuriba - bass, voice. Past members Chris Millner - bass, voice Ryo - bass Around 1990 there where very few bands in the world doing what the Molecules where doing, the Boredoms/Ruins come to mind. The influence was to take all the music that we liked and try to do something new. Free Jazz and Improvisation, Punk and Hardcore, Prog-rock, performance art, 20 Century Classical music, New York in the 80's. All the CDs were recorded on 8-track studio in Oakland, CA. Some people called the music No-Fi, some called it Free Rock, Punk-Prog, Avant-rock, some people just called it shit. The basic ideas: take highbrow art and make it lowbrow, make it Ugly, make it "rock", make it not "rock", play beyond one's own limitations, make it wrong.
