MISTAG FOR THE BAND MELOMANICS If you want to attract attention in the Amsterdam bandscene you have to be special. MeloManics was founded 4 years ago and consists of Ben Olgers (drums), Guido Schuurman (guitars) and Jeroen Joosten (electronics). A self-willed band with a self-willed sound who’s got a sound that combines synthpop and rock ‘n roll and has a name which literally means “a sickening love for music”. And being special is what these three are all about! Their live shows are synonymous for well dressed and styled suits and an enthousiasm which is overwhelming as well as liberating. No wonder that impressed everyone at the GreatPrice of the Netherlands 2004 and picked up second price. After that the band played on almost all club stages in the Netherlands and did a great deal of (dutch) summer festivals, including the free 300.000 people Parkpop festival. They’d also played, on designers invitation, at a fashion show in Paris. Reviews of their November 2003 released EP “…From the Factory” were extremely positive: “It’s a beautiful cd with a, for our era, very peculiar idiom” and “MeloManics make dance songs without being dominantly electronic and rock music without sounding macho”. Also national radio got an eye on the band and played their cd on regular basis. As a “thank you” the band supported de stations playing live in the studios. For the band, 2006 will (again) be a productive year. They will release their first official 12-inch single in early april. After
