The McDades is a Canadian folk band made up of siblings Shannon Johnson (violin and vocals), Solon McDade (bass and vocals), and Jeremiah McDade (multi-instrumentalist and vocals). The McDades were performers at an early age, playing folk music with their parents, Terry and Danielle McDade, in the McDade Family Band from 1974β1994. The siblings performed at the Canadian National Exhibition, the Commonwealth Games, and for the British Royal Family. They formed the McDades in 2000. WINNERS of the 2007 Independent Music Award for Best World Album Traditional. Punching through the walls of tradition, The McDades' celtic rooted music fuses the spontaneity of jazz improvisation with infectious global rhythms. Their cutting edge sound is the perfect complement to their fiery performances. "It's hot stuff and very entertaining." (Tom Knapp, Dirty Linen) In 2012 they were the subject of the documentary The McDades - Brother Brother Sister Making Music. The siblings are joined by Simon Marion, a multi-faceted guitarist whose influences range from Trad Quebecois to Madonna, and Bucky Wheaton, a magnetic jazz based drummer that keeps on rockin' the free world. The musical diversity of this tight-five piece celebrates the very idea of what it means to be a Canadian musician. With vocal harmonies
