From the bands Myspace: By mid 1978 The Scavengers were banned from playing anywhere in New Zealand and decided to go to Ronnie's homeland ie: Mother England. Short on airfares for that distance they only made it as far as Australia... AND a name change to MARCHING GIRLS... this was version 1. In 1981 a single TRUE LOVE / FIRST IN LINE was released on Au go go in Australia, Propellor in NZ and Pop Aural in the UK. By this time Ronnie had had enough and left the band to form Dead Can Dance. VERSION 2 came about a year or so later when Management asked Des and Johnny to reform the band for a tour of NZ Much auditioning later Bryan Colechin and Debbie Schultze joined. Bryan was from Christchurch bands Bon Marche and The News. Debbie, also a New Zealander had been in Sydney band Blue Electric. This version recorded a 12" EP for Virgin NZ. Plain Jane / My Friends / The Introduction / Flesh Lies In 1984 'Plain Jane' was re-recorded for EMI and released as a single with 'The man who knew too much' from a previous demo. Debbie had given birth to a son by the time it was released and quit the band Around this time there was a lot of changes going on which lead to VERSION 3 The final line up was Des, Johnny, Paula Sheldrake, Matthew Heydon and Paul Erikson.
