Over a period of five years (1977 - 1982) the Manchester Mekon played about fifty gigs in and around Manchester, released seven tracks on local labels and rehearsed once a week. The band comprised Louise Alderman (bass), Francis Alford (keyboards, saxophone and vocals), Frank Ewart (guitar), Chris Griffin (flute and drums), Chris Parkinson (drums and vibraphone) and David Pimlott (guitar and keyboards) The Manchester Mekon aim to integrate composed and improvised music, and blend orchestral and electronic sounds with rock, both live and in the studio.
