The Major Pins are no pin-up girls and no urban maniacs, either and, as an Indiepop trio of the German independent music scene, are strange fish in an ocean of sharks and musical manta rays. The Major Pins are musician and songwriter Katharina Garden on the piano and guitar with drummer Henry Grant from New York and Paul B Keeves from the UK playing electric bass. Kat has been singing and making music since she can remember and her talents have taken her on a series of journeys throughout Europe and back to her homeland of Germany where she has settled in the bubbling cauldron of creativity that is Berlin. Performing as a solo artist at ‘Troubadour’ - an international singer-songwriter contest in Berlin - she won second place at the Maxim Gorki Theater. This was followed by a grand world tour (Germany and Switzerland!) with two fellow musicians. Amidst a flurry of creativity and song-writing, Kat and her musicians became The Major Pinsand began to wow fans with their spell-binding blend of melodies and haunting vocals. Reminiscent of artists such as Kate Bush, Feist, Elbow and PJ Harvey, the Major Pins are a combination of Alternative, Avantgarde & Pianopop or rather “Posthippiepunk” as they like to call it.
