Formerly known as Death By Shotgun, the Bournemouth based surf-punk quartet have embraced change at its most volatile and unpredictable - not only returning under the moniker; The Lonely Surf with new recruit Tom Webb (Scarecrow Boat, Jetski Babylon) on drums but with the group’s EP ‘Shifting’ soon due for release this autumn. For their debut as The Lonely Surf, the group waste no time in asserting that this is them at their most focused and streamlined thus far. Over the course of the four songs, the Bournemouth quartet share a ferocious barrage of angular and introspective indie rock - harking back to the coarse charm of 2000’s alternative giants such as Bloc Party, The Wombats and The Cribs - rife with melancholic charm, soaring, chorus drenched guitars and delicately topped off with the duelling pop hooks of vocalists Dom Wright and Matt Gibbons - simply put, the band have stuck with the tides of change and come out more refined than ever.
