Band components Established in November 1995, The Light Beyond's birth was assisted by Hank Rosse - Hynek Rozkovec in civil life (vocals, synthesizer, guitar and work with computer, the main songwriter) and Harry Hewer - Hynek Rubes in civil life (synthesizer, drum pads and work with computer). Style Orientated towards pure synthesizer pop influenced especially by Depeche Mode, Visage and Human League in the beginning, demo albums The Flowers Of Pain (1996) and Synthetic Pleasures (1997) were products of this early period. The topics of the lyrics could be summarized under the Yazzoo-esque title The Dark Side Of Love, but it's definitely not a systematically kept custom. In the autumn 1998 Harry Hewer leaves the band, therefore The Light Beyond remains Hank Rosse's solo project with occasional participation of his band mates from his then funk rock act Kolben Brothers. The are more influences in their music: modern synth pop, gothic rock, trip hop, downtempo, acid jazz and dance music. Why this name? Harry and I had a discussion about the name and he said he would prefer a 2-word name. At that time I was reading the book The Light Beyond by Raymond Moody and I loved the title, so I suggested it as our band name and it was approved. I think the name describes the music pretty well, too. Although most lyrics deal with "the dark side of love and life", I feel there is a certain portion of hope in the music after all. Something like the light at the end of the tunnel... Us
