The Karl Shuman Band 1991-1996 was: Karl Shuman - 12 String Guitar and Vocals Orville Weale - Bass, Mandolin, Lead Guitar Zach Overking - Percussion and Vocals ================================================================================== The Karl Shuman Band was a band from Morgantown West Virginia 1991 - 1996. Their sound was formed in their beginnings at the open mic in Gibbies Pub & Eatery in Morgantown in 1990 when Karl Shuman met Orville Weale. After watching each other do their sets, Orville, who ran sound, began to accompany Karl with the mandolin for a few songs. The combination of Karl's 12 string guitar with Orville's mandolin created a happy college alternative rock sound that stayed with them through the years. Orville played bass in an alternative grunge band called Moon, and had been working out songs for his solo bass album, "Fork You" at the open mics so Karl asked him to begin playing bass instead. Karl came up with a new tune about once a week and before long the duo had enough material to play a few sets and were playing clubs, radio shows, and parties under the name "Karl Shuman". Their sound began to get popular with the ladies, and being a college town, Morgantown had a large supply of lovely ladies who danced and sang along at the shows. Once Orville noticed this he began to flyer all the sorority houses in town when they had a gig, and where sorority girls go, frat boys follow.
