THE JUTES, as far as anyone knows, came from Denmark in the 3rd century AD. After a bit of pillaging and some wiping out of Celts they settled in Kent and Hampshire. Then they got lost in the New Forest and disappeared entirely. Ale is suspected. But then, in mid-2006 five brave JUTES in their 20s (four males and a female ) peered out into the daylight in Leeds (of all places) and shouted "Yay! Let's do it all again!" A good-time, everyone-enjoy-the-carnage rock and roll band was immediately equipped and rehearsed - in a City with more bands than pubs (and that is a lot of bands). To survive they had to be good and they had to get out and about. So they did. Neil Humphreys sings and dances; Mat Tighe adds harmonies, and guitar; Matt Shannon adds fancy licks; baby of the band Tanya Shepard plays bass; and Gav Sharples cudgels the drums. So far they've jostled stages with The Passengers, The Go Faster, The Good Die Young, The Wall Birds, Napoleon IIIrd, Red Go Green Stop and recently supported the mighty Pigeon Detectives at the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool. This gave the Jutes a taste of whats to come, and they crave more Being THE JUTES, they have done the travelling thing from the first days, and they’ve made big dents in the heads of people far from Leeds - especially in Nottingham, Liverpool, Blackpool and Hull. Their bludgeoning set ends on top tune "Dream Team", a song that throws out a fist at the chances of dying young. Maximum thrashing about from band and audien
