There is more than one band with the name "The Jones." 1) The Jones were a vocal-instrumental rock quartet from Rio de Janeiro who began their career in the early 1960s. They combined several 60s musical styles: surf rock with a dry, twangy guitar sound; easy-listening arrangements, popular internationally at the time; and rock & roll/beat heavily influenced by UK bands like The Beatles and The Hollies. They frequently played covers of international hits, but also Brazilian songs – a mix typical of Brazilian dance and club bands at the time. The band released at least six studio albums and several singles between 1966 and 1969. Their best-known album, *Music to Watch Girls Dance*, a blend of surf, beat, and easy listening, was released in 1967. Although they're something of a hidden gem today, The Jones are a prime example of an era in which Brazilian bands embraced international pop and surf trends, creating their own charming 60s sound. The original lineup consisted of: Jorge Klein Romeiro da Silva – Lead Guitar Edson Klein Romeiro da Silva – Rhythm Guitar Newton dos Santos de Oliveira – Bass Oswaldo Magalhães Areias – Drums Studio Albums 1966 The Jones interpretam 14 sucessos 1967 Music to Watch Girls Dance 1968 Festa da uva 1968 The Jones 1969 The Jones (2) 1969 The Jones (3) 2) The Jones -- Sunderland, England -- In the beginning there was HDQ… HDQ were one of the finest punk bands to come out of the North East in the late Eighties.
