The JiveCrank was formed by Andrew Dalrymple (Guitar) and Adam Weir (Organ, Bass Keys), both originally from Toronto, Canada. They have been playing and writing music together for more than 8 years after having met each other at the University of Ottawa while they were both in their second year of studies. Andrew and Adam later started a jazz-funk project called “JiveCrank” in Seoul, Korea - during 2005 along with Kenny Thompson (Tenor Sax) - while they were all ex-pats living and working overseas. After breaking into the jazz scene in Seoul, the trio became known as the source of original jazz-funk music. They played many memorable shows at Nana Bar, the Shilla Hotel, the Galleria, Flow Music Festival, Mardis Gras, and they headlined the NYE party 2006 at the W Hotel, Seoul. After a successful year and a half and after releasing their first full length LP “Room to Groove”, Andrew and Adam decided to move the band to Melbourne in 2006 and thus parted ways with the great Kenny Thompson. Now residing in the Australian music capital of Melbourne, the band has re-spawned as “The JiveCrank” - a 5-piece Hammond Combo playing a much more “edgy, raw and organic style of deep funk and jazz”. The JiveCrank line-up now includes accomplished Australian players - Jeremy Diffey on Sax, Eric Budd on Trumpet and Trombone, and Fabio Giorgio on Drums. The JiveCrank sound draws it’s influence and inspiration from the emerging groove sounds promoted by bands such as Soulive, Galactic,
