The Intentionalist Phase is a duo that was founded in the suburbia of Perth, Western Australia. According to an extract from their myspace bio, "[t]he band members only really started playing together in late 2005, when Chris began to teach himself guitar in order to avoid the constant beatings around the back of the head that were resulting from his lazy reluctance to do so." Christopher Mofflin plays the lead guitar and the cowbell, and Andrew Clarke writes all the music, and is the vocalist, pianist and secondary guitarist of the band. The band draws inspiration from artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Jose Gonzalez and Death Cab For Cutie.
