The Hungry Dutchmen were a NYC based band most notable for having won MTV's Basement Tapes Award in February 1987, with the video of their original song "Alone On A Saturday Night". The band's new wave rock was similar to Elvis Costello, Crowded House and XTC. The band played extensively in and around NYC from 1987 to 1989, and released a 12" single "Lookin' For Santa b/w Caught Unprepared". The original band members were Tony Faske-vocals, Alec Cumming-bass and vocals, Michael J Bowman (aka Velveeta Heartbreak)-drums, Cary Berger-guitar (later replaced by Paul Rose-guitar).
