The Hotclub of Dublin is an energetic and quite unique quintet of talented musicians, comprising of the well-known Dublin born Gilligan brothers, Russian violinist Oleg Ponomarev and guitarist Daniel Gilligan. Delivering a mixture of their own compositions and well known jazz standards from The Mills Brothers, Sinatra and Django himself, it is clearly evident from the outset that listening to the combination of instrumental dexterity and three part vocal harmony is an experience in musical terms rarely experienced today. An obvious rapport and deep friendship exists between these musicians and is reflected in the way their blistering performance is delivered. As guitarist Fintans’ vibrant energy builds, it increasingly becomes infectious and with constant encouragement from older brothers John on double bass and Damien on rhythm guitar, the audience delight as a more subdued Oleg on violin rises to the occasion with breathtaking virtuoso display.
