The Henchman School of Shooting are a band from Edinburgh, Scotland. Formed in early 2013 by Jenny Dryden (Tokyo Blu, James Brown is Annie, various session work), Brett Allan (Amplifico, Tokyo Blu, James Brown is Annie) and Andrew Burton (Mull Historical Society, Shrinking Violet, 8-Track Stereo), the project began when the bands and projects each was working on either fell apart or took a break. As such the group decided to make a slow start, swapping regular full band rehearsals for living rooms, amps for acoustics and started writing collectively. Gradually the members' backgrounds of funk, dance, rock, indie, alternative (and a chneaky [cheeky and sneaky] nod on occasion to something heavier) came together and the bulk of what has become the self-titled debut EP was written in Autumn 2013. The remainder of the year was spent looking for a drummer, which was a relatively long process but allowed for honing of the early songs and the addition of some new ones. Still without a name the band eventually recruited Pepe Santamaria (Heredeiros Da Crus, Engine, various session work) who, as far as they are aware, is the only Scottish-based drummer who is banned from Portugal. Late 2013 and early 2014 were filled with rehearsals and honing the sound of the band, and just prior to the launch of the EP the quartet finally settled on naming themselves as 'The Henchman School of Shooting'. The EP was released in March 14 as a free download and is available from Soundcloud, Bandc
