The Group (AKA Group Grope) was a neighborhood Garage Punk band formed in the summer of 1979. They called themselves "The Group" because they were inspired by "The Band". The neighborhood girls started calling them "Group Grope" and that designation sets them apart from the many other bands called THE GROUP.
